IMPROVING OUR SCHOOL
Everyone Has A Part To Play! Accepting your part could be as easy as becoming a member of the School Advisory Council of your child’s school or of a school in your neighborhood or business community. In 1991 the Florida State Legislature established a system of school improvement and accountability. The centerpiece of that system is the School Advisory Council. What Is The School Advisory Council? The School Advisory Council, or SAC, is a group of people whose primary purpose is to assist the principal in developing a school improvement plan and evaluating the results of the plan in order to help students achieve success. The efforts of the SAC are always focused on improving student achievement. The SAC is made up of individuals from various segments of the community. It includes parents, teachers, school administrators, school staff, students, people in business/industry, and other interested community members.
Business and community members bring an important perspective that might not be represented without them; everyone has a part to play in improving local schools.
Make plans to sign up and participate in our Charter School Advisory Council (SAC) by completing the SAC Intent Form and either emailing the information to Nancy Besley or leaving it with the front office.(besleyn@ocps.net) You will be notified when the Charter School Advisory Council will initially meet to establish a monthly meeting time and develop our By-Laws as required by Florida. Why Is It Important For You To Become Involved In Helping To Improve our school? Education is essential to build strength from our society’s growing ethnic and social diversity. Remember — Today’s students are tomorrow’s citizens. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN HELPING TO IMPROVE OUR SCHOOL.
